Abstract

This research focuses on the repetitive verse (āyah takrār) found eight times in Surah Ash-Shu’arā’, specifically in verses 8, 67, 103, 121, 139, 158, 174, and 190. Each repetition is unique in that the wording remains completely unchanged from beginning to end. The objective of this study is to explore the interpretation of these repeated verses by Muammad Ibn Jarīr al-abarī and to analyze the meaning behind each repetition. The research employs a qualitative method with a thematic approach centered on the perspective of a specific scholar. According to Ibn Jarīr al-abarī’s interpretation, the repeated verses emphasize the absolute power of Allah over all things. They also highlight that no matter how great a person's sins may be, Allah always leaves the door of repentance open for anyone who wishes to return to Him. The analysis of the repetition of these verses in Surah Ash-Shu’arā’ reveals that they serve as a source of comfort and strength for the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Through the stories of earlier prophetssuch as Noah, Hud, āli, Lot, Abraham, and Moses who were also rejected by their communities, Allah demonstrates that the rejection of the divine message is not a new phenomenon. These repeated verses thus serve to uplift and encourage the Prophet in facing the challenges of dawah (propagation of Islam), just as the previous prophets endured with patience and full trust in Allah.
