TRADISI PEMBACAAN SURAH-SURAH PILIHAN PADA PONDOK PESANTREN UMMUL QUR’AN ANNURANI TEMBILAHAN: KAJIAN LIVING QUR'AN
Abstract
This study explores the tradition of reciting selected surahs practiced at Pondok Pesantren Ummul Qur’an Annurani Tembilahan within the framework of Living Qur’an studies. This tradition represents a concrete manifestation of the Qur’an in daily life, not merely as a text to be recited but as a practice deeply embedded in the pesantren community. The research employs a qualitative approach with field research combined with library studies. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with the kiai, teachers, and students, as well as documentation of religious activities within the pesantren. The data were analyzed using a descriptive-analytical method, presenting the phenomenon of surah recitations and connecting it to the Living Qur’an theory, which emphasizes the interaction between sacred text and socio-cultural context. The findings reveal that the recitation of selected surahs such as Yasin, Al-Waqi’ah, Ar-Rahman, and Al-Mulk is not merely a routine ritual but carries spiritual, educational, and social significance. Spiritually, it strengthens the students’ closeness to the Qur’an and enhances their worship quality. Educationally, the recitations serve as a medium for internalizing Qur’anic values in the pesantren’s learning process. Socially, this tradition fosters solidarity among students and functions as an effective medium of da’wah within the wider community. Therefore, the tradition of reciting selected surahs at Pondok Pesantren Ummul Qur’an Annurani illustrates the embodiment of the Living Qur’an, bridging the sacred text with real-life practice.References
